FCCPC Considers Specialist Training for Journalists on Consumer Rights and Competition
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission says it will consider a request for specialised training for journalists who cover competition law and consumer-rights issues. The commission said the field is still developing in Nigeria, making regular engagement and better understanding of the laws important for accurate public reporting. It noted that it had also worked with the National Judicial Institute to train judges on competition-related matters. The Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria said stronger cooperation between regulators and the media would improve public awareness, transparency and accountability. The association plans a national dialogue on October 20, 2026, on the policies and partnerships needed to support Nigeria’s $1 trillion economy target.
