Rivers ADC Seeks Probe After Three Members Are Arrested Over Alleged Cultism
The African Democratic Congress in Rivers State has called for an independent investigation into the arrest of three party members after a political meeting was disrupted in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area. The party said Confidence Amadi, Chikezie Justice and Isaiah Thomas were arrested after police officers and members of the OSPAC vigilante group allegedly stormed a consultative meeting organised by its Ikwerre House of Assembly candidate, Jeffrey Wobodo. ADC alleged that participants were intimidated and assaulted, while some phones were seized. According to the party, the men were accused of cultism and may be charged. It wants the police to either present credible evidence or release them. ADC also urged the Inspector-General of Police, the Rivers Commissioner of Police and the National Human Rights Commission to examine the alleged conduct of security personnel and ensure political neutrality ahead of the 2027 elections.
