NDLEA Busts Transnational Ring, Seizes 1.63 Million Tramadol Pills

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled a transnational drug syndicate by seizing 1.63 million tramadol pills hidden in custom compartments of two trailers. The operation targeted the Togo–Benin–Nigeria corridor and follows last week’s capture of 558,900 pills on the same route. On July 2, officers stopped a trailer on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway heading to Kano. They recovered 853,000 tablets concealed beneath the cargo floor and arrested the 22-year-old driver. A second trailer was intercepted on July 4, yielding another 777,000 pills and leading to a second arrest. At Lagos airport, NDLEA agents uncovered 4.7kg of Canadian Loud cannabis in two shipments from Canada. Cargo staff and the alleged consignee were detained after the parcels labeled “Odugwu” arrived on British Airways and Ethiopian Airlines flights. In Rivers State, an 80-year-old man was arrested with 800g of skunk in Ahoada. Investigations confirmed all seizures were linked to the same criminal network.
