2027: Wike Says Atiku Will Struggle in the South if Tinubu Loses Ground in the North

2027: Wike Says Atiku Will Struggle in the South if Tinubu Loses Ground in the North

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says former Vice President Atiku Abubakar could face major setbacks in Southern Nigeria if President Bola Tinubu encounters political resistance in the North ahead of the 2027 election. Speaking during a media chat in Port Harcourt, Wike said the G5 governors worked in 2023 to weaken Atiku’s support in the South. He said they encouraged support for Peter Obi in Benue, Cross River and Oyo as part of their strategy against the PDP candidate. Wike also questioned Obi’s national electoral strength, arguing that public enthusiasm at events does not necessarily translate into votes. He said opposition parties and alliances still face a difficult path as they prepare for 2027.
