Concerns Raised Over Possible IReV and BVAS Failures in Future Elections
I am concerned that technical failures could again affect the transmission and collation of election results. Past disputes over INEC’s systems have left many Nigerians doubtful about whether safeguards are strong enough. Possible concerns include delayed BVAS-to-IReV synchronisation, selective result uploads and network outages during critical stages of collation. If these occur, manual result forms may become more influential and harder for parties and voters to independently verify. INEC should clearly explain the safeguards in place, publish reliable system audit procedures and ensure that election results are uploaded transparently. This would help rebuild public confidence and reduce post-election disputes.
