Gladys Knight Plans Fewer Shows After Fans Raise Concerns About Her Wellbeing

Gladys Knight says she plans to reduce her performance schedule after viral clips from recent concerts left fans concerned about her wellbeing. The 82-year-old seven-time Grammy winner said she is entering a new phase of life and wants more time for personal projects, her husband and her grandchildren. Her husband and manager, William McDowell, said she has not been diagnosed with dementia, though he acknowledged she has “good days and bad days.” McDowell said the family intends to seek medical evaluation and will monitor her upcoming appearances before deciding whether her remaining tour dates should continue. Knight previously denied allegations of elder abuse made by her son against McDowell. Fans have continued to send support to the soul icon, whose classics include “Midnight Train to Georgia” and “Neither One of Us.”
