Wike: Court of Appeal Ruling Offers PDP Chance to Rebuild and Unite

Minister of the FCT Nyesom Wike says the Court of Appeal’s decision nullifying the PDP national convention in Ibadan is an opportunity to rebuild and restore unity. He told journalists in Abuja that the November 2025 convention failed to comply with the 1999 Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022, and the party’s own rules. Wike explained that the court found the PDP did not hold valid state congresses or notify INEC properly. He stressed that legal compliance must come before power and influence, warning that any steps taken in violation of the law will be set aside. The minister urged party members to drop personal interests and work together. He noted a caretaker committee now manages PDP affairs and announced plans for a fresh convention on March 29–30, 2026, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Velodrome to elect new officers in line with the law.
