Woman Pleads Guilty to Storing Arms for ISWAP Members in Nasarawa
A woman, Sumaiya Abubakar, has pleaded guilty at the Federal High Court in Abuja to supporting members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) by helping to store arms and ammunition. The prosecution alleged that the offence took place in 2024 in the Shinge area of Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State. She was charged under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022. Abubakar pleaded not guilty to the first count but admitted the second count. The prosecution withdrew the first count, while the court deferred conviction on the guilty plea until the facts of the case are reviewed. The judge adjourned the matter until October 14 and ordered that she remain in DSS custody pending further proceedings.
