Zambian Husband Arrested for Pouring Hot Oil on Wife After Marital Dispute
Police in Lundazi District, Eastern Province, Zambia, arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly pouring hot cooking oil on his 34-year-old wife. The attack occurred on April 13 in Chikaya Compound and was reported at Lundazi Police Station the next day. The victim suffered burns and bruises to her face, left eye, ear and neck. The couple’s four children were at home with a maid while they were at work. A dispute began when the husband questioned his wife about her late return from visiting a friend. The suspect has been charged with assault under gender-based violence laws and is due to appear in court on April 15, 2026.
