Bandits Kill Guard, Abduct Pastor, 11-Year-Old Boy and Two Others in Kubwa

On June 4, gunmen struck Paze community near Byazhin in Kubwa, Abuja. They shot dead security guard Shuaibu Yerima and abducted four residents, including Pastor Francis Oriade, Jewel Obeh, Friday Isaac and 11-year-old Delight Okeke. About eight bandits arrived shortly after midnight. Witnesses say they forced their way through a window and rounded up families at gunpoint. One victim’s brother said the men tied their hands with wrappers before leading them into the night. Family members pleaded with the attackers and later searched for their loved ones. Residents lament the slow police response after officers arrived in an armoured van but took a different route in pursuit. A senior officer at the local divisional headquarters confirmed the incident and said men are now tracing the kidnappers as mourners bury the fallen vigilante.
