Activist Criticises Soludo’s ‘Elite Consensus’ Remark on Tinubu’s Government
Civil rights activist Martins Nwabueze has criticised Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s reported description of support for President Bola Tinubu’s government as an “elite consensus.” Nwabueze argued that a government seen as serving only political and economic elites would be disconnected from ordinary Nigerians. He said democracy should reflect the interests of the wider public, not just those of politicians, wealthy individuals and influential groups. He urged Soludo to withdraw or clarify the remark, saying it could create the impression that the administration’s policies favour elites over the masses.
