FG Gives Two-Week Warning Over Possible Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Closure

The Federal Government has warned that it may shut the Lagos section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway within two weeks if motorists and other users continue to ignore safety rules and damage infrastructure. The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos said the road remains under construction, with several bridges yet to be completed. Motorists have been directed to maintain a maximum speed of 30km/h, but some drivers reportedly travel as fast as 120km/h. The Lagos portion of the project covers about 103km across two sections and includes 20 major bridges. Road users may be diverted to the Lekki-Epe Expressway if safety breaches, vandalism and illegal activities persist.
