Six Kaduna Schoolchildren and Others Released by Bandits After Weeks in Captivity
Six schoolchildren, their driver and two adults abducted on the Akwando-Kachia Road in Kaduna State have been freed after 36 days in captivity. They were kidnapped on April 26 while travelling from Akwando village to Kachia, and one young girl died during the attack. The victims returned home on May 31, trekking six hours through the bush to safety. Local community leaders confirmed their release and thanked everyone who prayed and supported efforts to secure their freedom. A former media aide also shared the good news on social media. In a separate incident, 11 residents of Gadanaji community were released after more than 50 days held by bandits. Witnesses say armed men stormed the village on April 9, firing shots and causing panic. Prayers are urged for those still held in Awon and Ariko villages, where captives have now spent over 40 days.
