EFCC Escapee Fatally Shot in Makurdi Cultist Gunfight

Security operatives in Makurdi, Benue State, have confirmed the death of an EFCC fugitive during a gunfire exchange with suspected cultists. The incident involved Atser Sesugh, one of four suspects who escaped from the EFCC Makurdi facility on May 4. Operatives acting on credible intelligence stormed a hideout at Kanshio’s Mechanic Village on May 23. Suspected cultists opened fire on the EFCC team and fled. While retreating, agents found Sesugh wounded by the roadside. He was taken to the Police Cottage Hospital but was pronounced dead. The Benue State Police Command has launched an investigation and is pursuing the other escapees.
