NDLEA Busts Alleged Nigerian-Mexican Meth Lab in Enugu, Two Arraigned
The NDLEA says it has dismantled an alleged Nigerian-Mexican drug syndicate operating a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory in Eziama, Obeagu, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State. Two suspected kingpins have been arraigned at the Federal High Court in Enugu on charges including conspiracy, managing and financing a drug-trafficking organisation, and possessing chemicals allegedly used to produce methamphetamine. The court fixed October 21 for trial after the agency requested an accelerated hearing. According to the agency, months of intelligence gathering and surveillance across Lagos, Enugu and Anambra led operatives to the facility. Officers reportedly recovered large quantities of precursor chemicals and equipment, while other suspects, including an alleged Mexican cartel member, are said to be at large.
