Pat Utomi Says He Will Withdraw Support if Peter Obi Accepts VP Slot

Political economist Pat Utomi says he will withdraw his support for Peter Obi if the former Anambra State governor accepts a vice-presidential position ahead of the 2027 election. Utomi said he supports Obi to contest for president, not to serve as another candidate’s running mate. He restated the position as opposition figures hold consultations on producing a possible joint candidate for 2027. He also renewed his call for a national debate on age limits for executive offices, proposing that presidential and governorship candidates should not be older than 70. Obi and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar are among the opposition figures involved in ongoing consultations.
