Anambra LG Poll: Government Confirms Free Movement and Open Markets

Anambra LG Poll: Government Confirms Free Movement and Open Markets — 1 of 3
1 / 3

The Anambra State Government says there is no restriction on movement or economic activities during Saturday’s local government election. Residents may open their shops, attend lawful events and travel freely across the state. Information Commissioner Law Mefor said neither the state government, ANSIEC nor security agencies ordered a shutdown of markets or a ban on vehicular movement. The clarification follows earlier concerns after some local authorities advised residents to avoid scheduling events on election day. Voting will hold in all 21 local government areas. Anambra East will use regular ballot voting because it has more than one mayoral candidate, while other areas with sole candidates will use a Yes-or-No ballot. Residents are encouraged to vote peacefully and avoid any action that could disrupt the election.
