Sanwo-Olu Orders Demolition of Illegal Markets on Lagos-Badagry Expressway Median

Sanwo-Olu Orders Demolition of Illegal Markets on Lagos-Badagry Expressway Median

The Lagos State Government has begun clearing illegal shanties and makeshift stalls along the median of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the exercise will protect public infrastructure and speed up reconstruction of the major transport corridor. He warned that no one should trade, build or live on the highway median. According to the governor, such settlements are unsafe, illegal and hinder the state’s plan to convert the expressway into a modern 10-lane highway. Sanwo-Olu urged residents to respect public assets and follow urban planning rules. He stressed that discipline and civic responsibility are essential for Lagos to match leading global cities in safety and organisation.
