Convicted Businessman Invictus Obi Reportedly Eyes Political Office After Return to Nigeria
Obinwanne “Invictus” Okeke, who was convicted in the United States over a major business email fraud scheme, has returned to Nigeria and is reportedly reconnecting with influential figures. He was recently seen at an entrepreneur’s birthday event in Abuja. A close associate reportedly said his political plans would be announced soon. It is unclear whether Okeke intends to seek elective office in the South-East or pursue a federal appointment. His eligibility for elective office may face constitutional restrictions linked to convictions for offences involving dishonesty. Okeke was sentenced in the United States in 2021 after pleading guilty to conspiracy charges connected to a scheme that caused about $11 million in losses. His lawyer and publicist had not responded to requests for comment at the time of the report.
