Court Reserves Ruling on Admissibility of Ahmed Idris’ Statements in ₦109.5bn Fraud Trial
An FCT High Court in Abuja has reserved its decision on whether to admit statements made by former Accountant-General of the Federation Ahmed Idris in his alleged ₦109.5 billion fraud trial. Idris, alongside three other defendants, is facing a 14-count charge brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations of stealing and diversion of public funds. He disputes the statements, arguing they were obtained through deception and inducement. The prosecution urged the court to admit the 14 statements, maintaining that three witnesses established they were made voluntarily. Justice Yusuf Halilu said the ruling date would be communicated to both parties.
