FAMFA Oil Faces ₦8.85 Billion Customs Duty Demand Over Private Aircraft
FAMFA Oil, the company associated with billionaire businesswoman Folorunsho Alakija, is facing a Customs demand for ₦8.85 billion in alleged unpaid duty on an aircraft. The claim reportedly followed a nationwide verification of privately owned aircraft operating in Nigeria. The investigation alleges that three Bombardier jets linked to the company operated for years with expired, backdated or missing import documents. Temporary import permits allow aircraft to enter Nigeria duty-free for a limited period, but full duty may apply if the terms are breached. The matter is now before the courts. FAMFA Oil has not publicly commented, and the allegations have not been tested or determined by a court.
