Osun Poll: APC Tells Adeleke to Defend His Record, Rejects Rigging Claims

The All Progressives Congress has asked Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to focus on his administration’s record rather than accuse President Bola Tinubu and APC leaders of being responsible for his political challenges ahead of the August 15 governorship election. Adeleke had alleged at a rally in Osogbo that political violence and extrajudicial killings were taking place in the state. He urged Tinubu to intervene and warned against any attempt to rig the election. The governor also referenced the 1983 political crisis in the old Western Region while calling for a free and fair poll. APC National Secretary Ajibola Bashiru dismissed the allegations as baseless and said Adeleke should campaign on his achievements. The party also accused the governor of fuelling tension and questioned his handling of roads, education and security. The election campaign has been marked by competing allegations of violence, insecurity and possible electoral manipulation.
