Peter Obi Says ‘Die for Our Votes’ Comment Was Symbolic, Not a Call to Violence
Peter Obi says his remark that he was ready to “die” for votes was symbolic and not intended to encourage violence ahead of the 2027 presidential election. He said the comment came after a participant at a Port Harcourt gathering said Nigerians were prepared to defend their votes. Obi said he was expressing his determination to ensure votes are counted and protected. Speaking on Arise TV, Obi said his political camp plans to document results at every polling unit and transmit them to its situation room alongside the official INEC process. He said the arrangement is meant to promote transparency and prevent results that did not originate from polling units from being presented as genuine.
