Abuja Court Jails Man Seven Years for Defrauding American Woman of $205,238

An FCT High Court in Maitama, Abuja, has sentenced Nwachi Chidozie Kingsley to seven years in prison for obtaining $205,238 from an American woman through false pretences. The court found that he used a fake Federal Ministry of Works and Housing contract to persuade the victim to send money. She told the court that their Facebook conversations became a romantic relationship, leading her to trust his requests for funds. She said she made more than 125 transfers for the supposed contract, medical bills, bail and other claims. The court ordered Kingsley to serve the concurrent sentences at Kuje Correctional Centre and refund the full $205,238 to the victim.
