Gunmen Kill AAU Student, Kidnap Palace Secretary and Three Children in Edo
Fresh violence has struck Esan West, Edo State, after two separate attacks on July 10 and July 12. A 300-level student of Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma was abducted with a woman and later killed, while his companion’s fate remains unknown. In Idoa community, gunmen seized the palace secretary and three neighbourhood children as he returned to repair his vehicle. The family reports a ₦30 million ransom demand and fears for their lives if payment isn’t made by the deadline. These incidents follow a recent spate of violent crimes in the area. In February, armed men killed a senior community chief, injured his wife, and abducted his daughters. Residents are calling for stronger security measures to curb rising kidnappings and attacks.
