Ondo Police Arrest Three Over Alleged ₦23m Car and UK Student Visa Scams
Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspects in separate alleged fraud cases involving a Mercedes-Benz GLE 350, ₦4 million and £10,000 meant for United Kingdom student visas. Two suspects allegedly posed as vehicle dealers and collected a Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 valued at about ₦23 million, plus ₦4 million, after promising to help the owner sell or import another vehicle. Police say they failed to complete the deal and allegedly converted the car and money for personal use. In a separate case, another suspect was arrested over allegations that he collected £10,000, estimated at ₦19 million, to secure UK student visas for a complainant's wife and niece. Police said checks showed that an admission letter supplied in the process was fraudulent. The command said investigations are ongoing and the suspects will be charged after they are concluded. Residents were advised to verify agents and documents before paying for vehicle, travel, education or visa-related transactions.
