31 Oriire Pupils Freed from Abduction Reunited with Families

31 Oriire Pupils Freed from Abduction Reunited with Families

The LAUTECH Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso has discharged 31 of the 39 school children rescued from bandits in Oriire LGA, Oyo State. The Chief Medical Director formally handed them over to their relieved parents after thorough medical checks. Eight pupils remain under observation for ongoing treatment. During assessments, doctors discovered a congenital heart defect in one child. The hospital team has begun the necessary procedures and will work with the state government on the next phase of care. Hospital officials say this milestone marks a key step in the children’s rehabilitation. They will continue to monitor both the physical and psychological recovery of all rescued pupils before they return home. Governor Seyi Makinde received the group alongside military officials and confirmed that the state government will oversee medical treatment and welfare for the children for at least 24 hours before their final release to families.
