Uyo Graduate Arrested for Illegal Arms Factory and Drug-Laced Snacks in Akwa Ibom
On March 15, 2026, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command raided a suspected arms fabrication and drug production site in Uyo. The operation was part of “Operation Zero Black Spots,” aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts across the state. DSP Timfon John said officers found machinery for weapon manufacturing alongside bags of chin-chin laced with Indian hemp. They also recovered refilled cartridges, gunpowder, machetes, military boots, and live turtles believed to be used for charms. Two men, Koabasi Marsodi and Marsodi John, both from Uya Oron in Oron LGA, were arrested. Marsodi, an Animal Science graduate of the University of Uyo, allegedly confessed to modifying firearms and producing narcotic-infused snacks. CP Baba Mohammed Azare warned anyone involved in arms fabrication or drug distribution to desist or face prosecution. He urged the public to provide timely and confidential intelligence to help secure the state.
