Atiku Faults APC Economic Policies, Says Hardship Is Deepening
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised the APC-led Federal Government, saying its economic policies have worsened poverty and hardship for many Nigerians. Atiku said the impact of reforms should be judged by whether ordinary households can afford food, transport and other basic needs, rather than by macroeconomic figures alone. He cited the effects of petrol subsidy removal and foreign-exchange reforms, arguing that higher fuel, transport, production and food costs have weakened citizens’ purchasing power. His comments come as parties prepare for the 2027 general elections, with the economy expected to remain a major campaign issue.
