Hamzat’s Lagos Complaint Plan: 24 or 48 Hours to Acknowledge Reports?
Kadri Obafemi Hamzat’s 2027 governorship manifesto proposes service standards for Lagos State Government offices. The plan includes acknowledging complaints, responding to residents and resolving routine issues within set timelines. It is a proposal, not a system already implemented by a future administration. The manifesto-launch statement was reported as promising acknowledgement within 48 hours, a response within seven days and resolution within 30 days. However, the manifesto text says complaints would be acknowledged within 24 hours, followed by a seven-day response and a 30-day resolution target. The acknowledgement timeline remains unclear. Lagos residents can already submit non-emergency complaints, enquiries and suggestions through the Citizens Gate platform. Hamzat’s proposal would add published Service Charters for ministries, departments and agencies, explaining their services, expected timelines and complaint procedures. The proposal’s effectiveness would depend on whether complaints are tracked, routed to the right offices and followed up with useful updates. Emergency issues should be reported through established emergency channels, not the ordinary complaints process.
