Epe Traditional Leader Proposes Local Fuel Support Scheme to Ease Subsidy Hardship

The Alakoso of Epe Kingdom has urged local governments and community leaders to introduce practical measures that can reduce the hardship linked to fuel subsidy removal. He proposed a partnership with microfinance institutions, transport unions and local authorities to register commercial drivers and commuters. Eligible participants could receive cards to buy fuel at subsidised rates. He said lower transport costs could help ease food prices and other household expenses, as transport remains a major cost in moving goods to markets. The call was made at a prayer gathering in Epe attended by religious, political and community leaders.
