Edo Labour Leaders Honour Late NLC General Secretary Ugboaja

Labour leaders, workers and civil society representatives gathered in Benin City on Friday to honour late Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) General Secretary Emmanuel Okechukwu Ugboaja. The Edo State NLC Council organised the event as part of tributes and songs held by NLC state councils nationwide. Edo NLC Caretaker Committee Chairman Monday Igbafen said Ugboaja gave his all to the Congress. He urged workers to stay united and committed to improving workers’ welfare and dignity, and said the remembrance should inspire action beyond the ceremony. Labour leader Bashir Kadiri also called on workers to move from mourning to collective action, describing Ugboaja as humble, fearless and principled. Civil society representative Jude Obasanmi said Ugboaja left a legacy for others to protect.
