Tinubu Must Distinguish Politics From Legitimate Criticism

President Bola Tinubu appears to treat every criticism as politics instead of focusing on governance and responding to public concerns. Since taking office, his administration has faced criticism for prioritising political calculations over performance. Nigerians elected him to govern, and his record in office should be the basis on which he is judged. The response to the Catholic bishops' criticism is especially troubling. The same religious leaders were praised for speaking truth to power when Tinubu was in opposition. Dismissing them as political now, while supporters attack them online, suggests that the government is unwilling to accept criticism. There should be a clear line between political disagreement and legitimate calls for accountability. The administration needs to recognise that not every critic is an opponent.
