Ejiofor Urges Tinubu to Safeguard Peter Obi Ahead of 2027 Elections

Human rights lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor has urged President Bola Tinubu, security agencies and other institutions to take preventive steps to protect Peter Obi and preserve peaceful political competition ahead of the 2027 general elections. Ejiofor said Obi’s reported concerns about his safety should be treated seriously. He referred to claims of obstacles faced by opposition politicians during campaign activities, including the disputed incident involving Obi’s convoy in Benue State. He called on the Federal Government, INEC, political parties and state authorities to protect the rights of all legitimate candidates to campaign, organise and reach voters peacefully. He also warned against ethnic rhetoric, intimidation and violence, saying electoral disagreements must be resolved through the ballot and the law.
