US Military Says Iranian Oil Tanker Sank After Gulf of Oman Strike
The United States says its forces struck and sank an Iranian oil tanker, identified as M/T Kylo, in the Gulf of Oman after the crew was ordered to abandon the vessel. According to U.S. Central Command, the action followed ballistic-missile attacks by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on two U.S. Navy warships in the region. The U.S. said the ships evaded the missiles and no American personnel were injured. CENTCOM said two other Iranian crude tankers were also disabled near Kharg Island and Jask. It alleged the vessels were linked to a network that funds the IRGC and its regional allies, as tensions around the Gulf of Oman and Strait of Hormuz continue to rise.
