Atiku Says Fuel Subsidy Review Would Be Gradual, Not Full Restoration

ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar says any move to review petrol subsidy removal would depend on conditions when he takes office, rather than an immediate return to full subsidy. In a BBC interview, Atiku said the government should consult Nigerians and experts before acting. He argued that a sudden, total change in subsidy policy could be harmful and that any adjustment should be gradual. He said proceeds from subsidy removal should have improved welfare, jobs and security. Atiku also promised to strengthen the armed forces and police, while reiterating his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election.
