Timi Frank Warns Tinubu Against Undermining Opposition Ahead of 2027 Elections
Former APC spokesman Timi Frank has warned President Bola Tinubu against actions he says could weaken opposition parties and Nigeria’s democracy ahead of the 2027 elections. His comments follow allegations that protests and security agencies were used to disrupt the ADC’s planned campaign rally in Sokoto State. Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar alleged that the ADC was denied access to public facilities and that protesters were mobilised to disrupt the rally. The DSS has reportedly ordered an investigation into claims that its officials were involved. Frank called on governments and security agencies to remain politically neutral and allow parties to campaign. He also urged political actors to avoid retaliation and resolve disputes through lawful, democratic means.
