Tinubu Says CNG Programme Will Cut Transport Costs From October 2026
President Bola Tinubu says Nigerians should begin to see measurable reductions in transport costs from 1 October 2026 under the National Affordable CNG Transit Programme. The programme followed discussions with the 36 state governors and will be coordinated by an implementation committee under the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, chaired by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. The committee, states and other stakeholders are identifying priority transport corridors and the interventions needed to expand affordable CNG transport. The government said the plan has become more urgent because of the global energy crisis.
