Russia Reportedly Losing 6,000 More Troops Monthly Than It Recruits for Ukraine War
Western officials estimate that Russia is losing about 36,000 soldiers killed or wounded each month in its war against Ukraine. They say this is roughly 6,000 more than Russia is currently recruiting. The reported shortfall has fuelled speculation that the Kremlin could consider another mobilisation drive as fighting on the front line slows. Ukraine has also intensified long-range drone attacks on Russian oil refineries, reportedly worsening petrol shortages in several regions, including Moscow. Warehouses linked to major online retailers have also been targeted as Kyiv expands pressure on Russia's consumer economy.
