From Nigeria to Taipei: A Rotarian’s Journey of Service and Friendship

From Nigeria to Taipei: A Rotarian’s Journey of Service and Friendship — 1 of 4
1 / 4

Rabi Maidunama, founder of the Maidunama Sickle Cell Foundation, attended the 2026 Rotary International Convention in Taipei. She joined over 38,000 Rotarians from around the world to share ideas on community development, health advocacy, and service above self. She proudly represented Nigeria under the national flag and forged new connections with fellow members. Between sessions, she explored Taipei’s temples, the iconic Taipei 101, night markets, and street food stalls, gaining fresh perspectives to bring back home. Despite language barriers, Rabi returned to Nigeria inspired by global best practices and strengthened by international friendships. Her experience will fuel her ongoing mission to support vulnerable communities living with sickle cell disorder.

Totally loving that idea! Adapting community check-ins and fun outreach events would lift our health drive.

No wahala, but such global events fit Miss Maidunama own vision; our focus should remain practical local solutions before chasing international accolades.

Perhaps local Rotaries could host smaller workshops mirroring those discussions in Taipei, focusing on sickle cell awareness and community health training.
