Abiodun Urges Ogun Monarchs to Promote Peaceful Participation in 2027 Elections

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has asked traditional rulers to encourage peaceful, responsible and informed participation ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking in Abeokuta during the inauguration of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, as Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, Abiodun urged monarchs to discourage violence, thuggery and hate-driven politics in their communities. The governor also called on the traditional institution to support security agencies with community intelligence and conflict-resolution efforts. He said suspects linked to the abduction of Gateway ICT Polytechnic students in Saapade had been arrested. Abiodun said the 60 SUVs provided to members of the council would improve their mobility and help them carry out their responsibilities across the state.
