UNILAG Medical Lecturers Begin Indefinite Strike, Suspend College Activities
Academic and clinical duties have been halted at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos after medical and dental lecturers launched an indefinite strike under NAMDA-UNILAG. The union withdrew from lectures, ward rounds, tutorials and research supervision on Monday, May 18, citing failed negotiations over welfare and regulatory issues. The strike follows the expiry of a three-week ultimatum issued to university management. Signed by NAMDA-UNILAG chairman Ugburo Andrew Omotayo, the notice states that all teaching, laboratory demonstrations, seminars and examinations are suspended until further notice. Lecturers will also boycott university-related meetings during the industrial action.
