NMDPRA Warns Fuel Stations Against Under-Dispensing, Threatens Licence Revocation
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has directed fuel stations nationwide to calibrate and verify their pumps and totalisers immediately. The regulator said stations found dispensing less fuel than customers pay for could face sanctions, including the revocation of their operating licences. The directive follows reports of under-dispensing at some outlets amid high petrol prices. NMDPRA said it has intensified inspections across the country and will require outlets with faulty or improperly calibrated equipment to correct the problem without delay. It also asked major and independent marketers, depot operators and retail outlet owners to ensure full compliance. The agency said the move is intended to protect consumers and ensure they receive the correct quantity of petroleum products paid for.
