INEC to Review Court Order Recognising Olawepo-Hashim as Accord’s 2027 Candidate

INEC says it will review a Federal High Court judgment directing it to recognise and upload Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as Accord Party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election. The court upheld Olawepo-Hashim’s primary victory and rejected objections to his suit. It also faulted the party’s purported cancellation of the primary held on May 30, 2026. INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan said the commission would obey lawful court orders but noted that the Federal High Court is not the final court on the matter. He said INEC would rely only on authentic certified copies of court judgments before taking action. Amupitan also said INEC plans to use artificial intelligence for voter education, electronic transmission and countering election misinformation ahead of 2027.
