IGP Disu Relaunches POCACOV Campaign to Curb Cultism and Vices

IGP Disu Relaunches POCACOV Campaign to Curb Cultism and Vices

The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) was relaunched nationwide at the Police Officers’ Mess in Port Harcourt. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, called on all Nigerians to unite against cultism, drug abuse and other social vices. The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, warned that cultism thrives on false promises of protection and wealth but ends in violence and death. He urged parents, schools, religious bodies and community leaders to instil positive values in young people. SP Onne Ikwen, National Coordinator of POCACOV, explained that the campaign has been active for over seven years. She said the relaunch will deepen public participation in crime prevention through community engagement and youth sensitisation. Traditional rulers, students, academics, civil society groups and senior police officers attended the event. They applauded the initiative as a key step towards safer communities and pledged to spread its message across Rivers State and beyond.
