Kano Police Arrest 10 Over Interstate Vehicle Theft, Recover 12 Vehicles
The Kano State Police Command says it has arrested 10 suspects linked to an alleged interstate vehicle-theft syndicate and recovered 12 vehicles in operations across Kano and neighbouring states. Police said the operation began on September 7, when Special Intervention Squad operatives acting on intelligence arrested five suspects in Adamawa State and recovered a Mercedes-Benz GLK 350. Five more suspects were arrested in Kano on September 12, while further investigations led to the recovery of additional vehicles. The command said the suspects allegedly moved stolen vehicles across state boundaries for resale. It added that 11 of the recovered vehicles were unregistered, making it difficult to identify their owners. Investigations are continuing, and the suspects are expected to be charged after they are concluded. Vehicle owners seeking to reclaim any of the recovered vehicles have been asked to approach the Kano State Police Command with valid proof of ownership.
