Midnight Raid in Plateau: Gunmen Kill Two, Kidnap Women and Children in Furyam Takzul
Gunmen stormed Furyam Takzul community in Kantana Ward, Kanam Local Government Area, Plateau State around 12:05 a.m. on Sunday, May 10. They opened fire, killing two residents before abducting five others, including women and children. Residents say the attackers arrived in large numbers and shot sporadically. Villagers fled into nearby bushes as the assailants operated for several minutes and then whisked away the captives to an unknown location. Haruna Khalid, the community youth leader, described the village as devastated and traumatised. He said the raid came without warning and appealed to security agencies to intensify patrols and rescue the abducted victims. This incident has heightened fear across Kanam Local Government. Many people now worry about further attacks in isolated communities.
