Ogun Police Rescue 11 Ghanaians Allegedly Held in Visa Scam Operation
Ogun State Police say they rescued 11 Ghanaian nationals who were allegedly held in Sagamu after being lured to Nigeria with promises of Canadian and Spanish visas. Police said the victims, seven men and four women, were rescued on 19 October following intelligence received by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit. Investigators allege that each victim paid GH₵40,000 to a fellow Ghanaian who claimed to be able to arrange overseas travel. The victims are receiving care while police search for other suspects linked to the alleged transnational visa-fraud network. Residents have been urged to verify visa-processing and travel arrangements before making payments.
