FCDA Staffer Gets Concurrent 25-Year Terms for Abuja Land Fraud
An FCT High Court in Abuja has convicted Federal Capital Development Authority staff member Kinsley Eselebor on five counts of obtaining money under false pretences and using forged documents in a land transaction. The court sentenced him to seven years each on three counts and two years each on two other counts. The sentences will run concurrently, meaning he will serve the longest single term. Prosecutors said Eselebor collected payment for two plots in Kubwa District Central Annex from Moses Osinachi despite having no valid title to sell them. The EFCC said forged conveyance documents and Eselebor’s position at the FCDA were used to assure the buyer that the plots were genuine. The court heard that the buyer discovered rival claims to the land when he attempted to take possession. The EFCC described the conviction as a warning against land racketeering and the use of fake documents to defraud property buyers.
