Court of Appeal Rejects Aiyedatiwa’s Election Appeal, Imposes ₦3M in Costs
The Court of Appeal in Abuja has unanimously dismissed Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s challenge to a Federal High Court ruling on his eligibility for the next governorship poll. The three-member panel held that the trial judge rightly allowed the plaintiff to amend his summons. Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam noted that Aiyedatiwa failed to show any injustice or denial of fair hearing. The appellate court found his appeal lacked merit and awarded ₦2 million in costs. It also denied his bid to set aside a January 27, 2026 order, imposed ₦1 million more in costs, and advised him to take his case to the Supreme Court.
